- BESS strategy: Developing and refining cost-effective grid connection solutions for own substations / BESS projects. Create an optimal co-location BESS strategy for each of the projects in the pipeline. This would include identifying the optimal size / technology in coordination with the development / land securing team..
- Grid connection application: Guide / support the technical team in applying for the grid connections for all the BESS / RES projects. Objective would be to liaison with the DSO / TSO and create an optimal technical solution to achieve maximum Import and Export capacity for all the projects. Review of the GCCs and negotiating with the DSO / TSO would be critical element of the job.
- Project Planning and design: Planning and designing the electrical grid infrastructure, such as substations, transfer stations, transformer stations, and cable networks, including the preparation of technical specifications and tender documents. This will also include design of the BESS capacities and identifying the optimal technology / size of the BESS.
- Project Execution & Commissioning: Provide technical oversight during construction and lead the commissioning phase, including witness testing and final grid-readiness inspections. FAT – Factory Acceptance Test, on-site inspection of the plants. Coordination with grid operators and service providers for grid connection
- Market / Team Integration: Coordinate with energy aggregators to ensure BESS systems can participate in ancillary services like grid balancing and peak shaving. Coordinate with Finance, Procurement, Construction and Senior Management team on a regular basis

Core Skills / Experience
- Grid Integration & Compliance: Experience in leading grid connection process from feasibility to commissioning. This includes ensuring compliance with national and regional Grid Codes (VDE) and managing interfaces with Transmission/Distribution System Operators (TSOs/DSOs).
- System Design & Engineering: Design / review of technical specifications for BESS components, including batteries, Power Conversion Systems (PCS), and transformers. Experience in designing / reviewing electrical layouts, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), and protection schemes.
- Modelling & Simulation: Power system studies using specialized software (e.g., PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or MATLAB) to assess load flow, fault levels, and dynamic stability.
- Control Systems & SCADA: Oversee the integration of Power Management Systems (PMS) and Energy Management Systems (EMS) to manage energy dispatch, state of charge (SOC), and frequency regulation.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related technical field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years in renewable energy or high-voltage (HV) engineering, with specific expertise in utility-scale BESS or solar PV projects.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in power system modeling software (e.g., PSEE, PowerFactory).
- Strong knowledge of HV/MV electrical infrastructure and protection systems.
- Familiarity with communication protocols like Modbus, IEC 61850, and DNP3.
- Soft Skills: Ability to negotiate complex technical requirements with external stakeholders and communicate findings to non-technical teams. Good and extensive network of DSOs and TSOs. Communicative, independent, assertive
